African Pilot Project Update: Ethiopian Airlines Group, as Project Sponsor, is developing the new Bishoftu International Airport, a world-class flagship greenfield hub airport located 38 kilometres southeast of Addis Ababa. The project is planned to become Africa’s largest international airport and a key aviation hub for the continent.

The initial phase, which is currently under preparation, is designed to accommodate 60 million passengers annually, with the airport ultimately expected to scale up to a capacity of 110 million passengers per year at full development in later phases.

In support of the project, the African Development Bank intends to select an independent consulting firm to act as the Lenders’ Technical Advisor. The appointment will involve an independent assessment of the project’s technical studies prepared by the Sponsor’s advisors, forming part of the lenders’ due diligence process coordinated by AfDB, acting as Initial Mandated Lead Arranger, alongside a Co-Mandated Lead Arranger.

The Lenders’ Technical Advisor will report directly to AfDB and the Co-Mandated Lead Arranger and will owe a duty of care to all lenders participating in the syndicate.
