On 7 July 2025, the Air Cargo Terminal (TCA) at Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN) welcomed, for the first time, a Qatar Airways Cargo aircraft—marking a significant milestone for the facility. Recognised as one of the world’s leading air freight carriers, Qatar Airways Cargo operated a Boeing 777-200 flight arriving from Shanghai Pudong International Airport, a major logistics hub in Asia.
The flight delivered 106 consignments of specialised goods, weighing a total of 97,152 kg, intended for Angola’s national oil industry. The cargo included complex equipment and critical components essential to oil exploration and production activities, underscoring AIAAN’s strategic role in supporting the country’s industrial logistics.
The operation utilised the airport’s dedicated cargo apron, designed specifically for freighter handling, which enabled efficient unloading and streamlined processing. This purpose-built infrastructure helps minimise waiting and service times, offering tangible benefits to logistics operators and enhancing national industrial supply chains.
Qatar Airways Cargo’s debut at AIAAN marks a significant step towards positioning the airport as a hub of logistics excellence. It places Icolo e Bengo firmly on the map of global air cargo routes and reflects AIAAN’s ongoing commitment to attracting major international carriers and bolstering Angola’s global connectivity.
