Airbus A330-900neo “Aapravasi Ghat” Returns to Mauritius After an Extended Maintenance Visit

L’Aapravasi Ghat de retour à Maurice après une visite d’entretien prolongée

The Airbus A330-900neo, Aapravasi Ghat of Air Mauritius (MK), registration 3B-NBU, returned to its base in Mauritius, in early June, from Naples after an extended maintenance visit lasting three months.

The aircraft, whose Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC) had expired due to its prolonged grounding in Naples, has already obtained a new ARC, allowing it to operate its return flight to Mauritius.

Before operating a commercial flight, the aircraft is scheduled to undergo a physical inspection by both inspectors from the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) and a multidisciplinary team from Air Mauritius. Even though the certificate of airworthiness confirms the compliance of the work carried out, the technical department of Air Mauritius considers it essential to address any potential issues that may arise when the aircraft is returned to service.

The technical department has also scheduled a few additional tasks before the aircraft is eventually put into commercial service. The reasons for the extended stay in Naples relate to several corrosion treatments and other maintenance work following scheduled inspections during the visit.

On another note, the new management of Air Mauritius had to renegotiate the terms of the contract binding the Mauritian carrier to the maintenance firm Atitech.
