On 19 February, the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) held a Workshop on Cybersecurity in Civil Aviation at the Aeronautical Training Centre (CAI), with the aim of strengthening awareness and training on cybersecurity in civil aviation.
The event, moderated by ANAC’s Director of Security and Facilitation, Tito Castro, also aimed to promote effective strategies to mitigate risks and protect critical infrastructure against cyberattacks. During the meeting, crucial topics for the development and safety of the sector were addressed, including the growth of aviation and its increasing dependence on technology, information security challenges, the impact of cyberattacks, the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) strategy for aviation cybersecurity and cyber resilience, as well as the challenges, advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence in aeronautical applications.
Among the main recommendations was the need to strengthen digital literacy, invest in capacity building, training and continuing education for personnel, develop aligned strategic plans, policies and procedures, continuously assess the reality of the sector to anticipate threats, and emphasise collective responsibility to guarantee the sector’s security.
ANAC’s Security Administrator, Emanuel Candengue, presented the action plan for the implementation of the cybersecurity strategy in aviation. In her message, the Chairman of ANAC’s Board of Directors (PCA), Amélia Kuvíngua, reinforced ANAC’s commitment to protecting the industry from cyber threats, emphasising the importance of a joint effort to build a safer digital environment.
The workshop was attended by ENNA, the Angolan National Police, SGA, SME and INAMET.
