On 18 February 2026, Avmax Group Inc announced a year of strong aircraft sales and leasing activity across the African continent during 2025, reinforcing the company’s long-standing commitment to supporting regional airlines in high-growth markets.

2025 Transactions with African Operators

During the year, Avmax successfully completed several notable aircraft and asset transactions with African operators, including:

  • Air Kenya: Sale of one Dash 8-200 aircraft (MSN 448)
  • Mombasa Air Safari: Sale of one Dash 8-100 aircraft (MSN 341)
  • Renegade Air: Sale of one Dash 8-100 (MSN 389) and one Dash 8-200 (MSN 418)
  • Auric Air: Sale of two Dash 8-300 aircraft (MSNs 597 and 602)
  • Jambojet: Sale of two PW150 engines

In addition, two existing African operators exercised purchase options on aircraft that were originally placed on dry lease with Avmax. These transactions, involving aircraft operated by PassionAir and ProFlight Zambia, reflect continued confidence in the performance, reliability, and long-term value of Avmax-supplied assets.

Scott Greig, Senior Vice President and Head of Avmax Aircraft Leasing Inc., said that demand for high-quality regional aircraft in Africa remains robust. He noted that the company continues to see strong interest from both established operators and new entrants, particularly for proven platforms such as the Dash 8 family. He added that Avmax’s focus remains on delivering flexible, long-term solutions that align with customers’ operational and financial objectives.

ARTS Expands Insurance Footprint in Africa

Complementing the strong sales and leasing activity, Avmax’s insurance subsidiary, Aerospace Risk Transfer Solutions (“ARTS”), further expanded its footprint in Africa during 2025. ARTS was appointed Broker of Record for Mombasa Air Safari and Renegade Air, adding two new airline clients to its growing African portfolio.

Reinaldo Irragori, President of ARTS, said that the company’s unique value proposition, combined with close alignment with Avmax’s leasing and asset teams, enables ARTS to deliver competitive and tailored insurance solutions to operators across Africa. He added that the company looks forward to continuing to expand its presence on the continent in 2026.

Spares Support in Africa

Avmax’s Spares Division in Nairobi, Kenya, has played a key role in strengthening the company’s presence across Africa. For more than 10 years, the team has supported lease customers with responsive, in-region spares solutions, helping operators reduce costs and minimise AOG events by ensuring critical components are readily available. With expertise, particularly across the Dash 8 100/200/300/400 market, Avmax is recognised as a trusted partner and a go-to provider for comprehensive spares support.

Avionics and Engineering Upgrades for ALS Kenya

In addition to supporting aircraft sales and leasing activity in Africa, Avmax’s Avionics and Engineering teams are providing Flight Management System (FMS) upgrade kits and Transponder ADS-B system upgrades for ALS’s legacy Dash 8 fleet. The upgrades enhance navigation accuracy, operational efficiency, and compliance with evolving airspace and surveillance requirements, enabling improved RNAV and PBN capability and more accurate aircraft tracking. By combining leasing activity with in-house avionics and engineering upgrades, Avmax delivers fully compliant, operationally optimised aircraft that are ready for service with minimal transition time.

Integrated Platform Supporting Airline Growth

Steve Hankirk, Chief Executive Officer of Avmax Group Inc., said that the level of activity seen across Africa in 2025 reflects both the strength of the regional aviation market and the trust operators place in Avmax. He noted that Africa remains a core strategic market for the company and that its fully integrated platform, spanning aircraft and engine sales, spares, insurance and aftermarket support, enables Avmax to deliver end-to-end solutions as a trusted long-term partner. Hankirk added that the company expects this momentum to continue into 2026 as fleet renewal and regional growth drive demand for reliable and efficient aircraft.
