The South African National Space Agency (SANSA), in partnership with the National Research Foundation (NRF) and the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI), has announced the upcoming call for proposals for the Research Accelerator Fund for Space Innovation (RASI). The initiative aims to drive research, innovation, and skills development in the Space Science and Technology (SST) sector. The NRF will invite proposals from academics, Historically Disadvantaged Institutions (HDIs), and Universities of Technology (UoTs) collaborating with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges. The programme will offer support over 1-2 years, focusing on practical, application-based science and innovation.
Programme Objectives:
- Develop space-related solutions through innovation.
- Build research capacity at HDIs and UoTs through partnerships.
- Strengthen collaboration between TVET colleges, universities, and industry stakeholders.

- Application Deadline: 21 April 2025 the RASI programme will provide research support, training, and networking opportunities to accelerate progress in the SST sector in South Africa.
