Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe Appoints Mavis Musakasa as Director of Flight Safety and Standards

The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe (CAAZ) has appointed Mrs. Mavis Musakasa as Director of Flight Safety and Standards, effective 5 August 2025, under Section 26 of the Civil Aviation Act and ICAO Annex 19 – Safety Management requirements.

An experienced aviation professional, Mrs. Musakasa has a background in aircraft maintenance, airport operations, airworthiness compliance, and safety oversight. She served in the Air Force of Zimbabwe’s Engineering Directorate before joining CAAZ in 2008, advancing through roles including Senior Airside Safety Officer, Airworthiness Inspector, Senior Airworthiness Inspector, and Manager Airworthiness.

Her regional and international contributions include serving as a SADC Aviation Safety Inspector, leading Technical Assistance Missions, acting as rapporteur for AFCAC’s Airworthiness Expert Group, chairing the Airworthiness Working Panel sub-group, and serving as an ICAO USOAP Auditor Subject Matter Expert in Airworthiness.

The appointment aligns with Zimbabwe’s constitutional provisions on gender balance and equal opportunities, with CAAZ highlighting her leadership as key to strengthening regulatory effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance with international aviation standards.
