The Emergency Airworthiness Directive (EAD) applies to Pipistrel Vertical Solutions Virus SW 121, SW 121A, SW 121C and SW 128 aeroplanes.
EASA have ordered inspections to ensure the correct flaperon bell crank bolt installation. Occurrences were reported of flaperon bell crank bolts found loose. Subsequent investigation identified an incorrect installation in the production line as a possible root cause.
This condition, if not detected and corrected, could lead to malfunction of the control stick, possibly resulting in reduced control of the aeroplane.
To address this potential unsafe condition, PVS issued the SB SB-121-00-80-028, to provide applicable instructions, and EASA published AD 2023-0079-E to require reinstalling the flaperon bell crank bolt.
Since that AD was issued, it has been confirmed that additional s/n must be added to the Applicability, and PVS published the SB Revision, addressing this new development.
For the reason described above, this AD retains the requirements of EASA AD 2023-0079-E, which is superseded, expands the Applicability and requires additional actions. This Emergency Airworthiness Directive has been supplied by AVDEX.
