Aéroports du Cameroun (ADC SA) and the French Development Agency (AFD) have signed a loan agreement to finance the renovation of the passenger terminal at Douala International Airport, under the Douala International Airport Passenger Terminal Renovation Project (RAP-AID).
The signing ceremony took place on 15 December 2025 at the Ministry of Transport and was held under the coordination of the Ministry, with participation from representatives of ADC SA, AFD, government ministries, the RAP-AID project team, technical partners and airport sector stakeholders.
The project aims to upgrade the passenger terminal to international standards, achieve IATA “C” standard, and improve airport security and safety in line with ICAO and CEMAC requirements. The loan provided by AFD amounts to 38.3 billion FCFA, with a five-year grace period and a 15-year repayment term, and the first disbursement scheduled for 2026.
The total project cost is estimated at 95 billion FCFA, including works valued at 75 billion FCFA, excluding tax. Financing includes the AFD loan, a direct contribution from ADC SA, and a contribution from the State of Cameroon covering taxes and customs duties.
The renovation is expected to modernise the terminal and increase its capacity to accommodate up to 1.5 million passengers per year. The agreement marks a key step in the implementation of the RAP-AID project and reflects ongoing cooperation between ADC SA, the State of Cameroon and AFD in the development of airport infrastructure.
