In recognition of outstanding achievements in aviation security oversight, the Gabon Civil Aviation Authority was presented with an ICAO Council President Certificate by the ICAO Western and Central African (WACAF) Office Regional Director Romain Ekoto, on behalf of Council President Salvatore Sciacchitano, celebrating its significant progress during the recent ICAO Universal Security Oversight Audit Programme (USAP) audit.

The Council President Certificate distinguishes Gabon as a Member State that has made marked advancements in establishing an effective aviation security oversight system, while reaffirming its ongoing commitment to the implementation of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
Presented during the inaugural meeting of the Africa–Indian Ocean (AFI) Aviation System Planning and Implementation Group (AASPG/1), the recognition underscored both Gabon’s leadership and the region’s shared dedication to strengthening aviation security performance across Africa.
As deliberations get underway in Libreville, the AASPG/1 meeting sets the stage for a renewed spirit of collective responsibility and partnership, ensuring that Africa’s aviation transformation is driven by those it serves, and that No Country is Left Behind.
