The revival of Air Guinée has been reaffirmed as one of the key priorities of the Guinean Ministry of Transport. Over recent months, senior officials from the Ministry, under the leadership of Minister Ousmane Gaoual Diallo, have taken concrete steps to support the return of the national airline.
On Tuesday, 29 July 2025, a milestone was reached with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Guinean Civil Aviation Authority and Gewan Africa, a subsidiary of Gewan Holding.
This agreement outlines cooperation on the creation and development of air services within Guinea. It also includes commitments to skills development, knowledge exchange, and the sharing of international best practices.
The relaunch of Air Guinée forms part of a broader initiative to modernise Guinea’s aviation sector. This includes the expansion of Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport in Conakry and the reconstruction of four regional airfields located in Labé, Mamou, Faranah, and N’Zérékoré.
Since the closure of Air Guinée in 2004, Guinea has been without a national airline, leaving the market to foreign carriers, which currently dominate strategic routes.
