Why it Matters
- The extended Airplane Health Management agreement strengthens Kenya Airways’ ability to apply predictive maintenance across its 787 fleet, improving operational reliability.
- Real-time in-flight alerts help maintenance teams identify root causes earlier, reducing the likelihood of safety-related issues and unplanned technical events.
- Enhanced maintenance planning supports faster decision-making, ensuring the right parts, equipment and personnel are ready before the aircraft lands.
- The partnership helps reduce unscheduled maintenance delays, supporting better on-time performance for passengers and improving fleet utilisation.
- Continued collaboration with Boeing Digital Services reinforces Kenya Airways’ long-term digital maintenance strategy and supports future readiness across its widebody operations.
At the recently held 2025 Dubai Airshow, Kenya Airways and Boeing announced the extension of an agreement for Boeing’s Airplane Health Management solution to support the airline’s 787 Dreamliner fleet.
“At Kenya Airways safety and well being of our guests and staff come first. The extension of this agreement is an important step in our collaboration with Boeing that ensures we continue to have the right tools and capabilities that enable us to predict any safety issues in good time, identify the root cause and address it appropriately,” said George Kamal, Chief Operating Officer, Kenya Airways.
Boeing’s Airplane Health Management solution (AHM) encompasses a suite of robust analytics tools that provide predictive maintenance capabilities, enabling real-time, in-flight customised alerts on numerous systems and components to help predict potential issues before they arise. By receiving these alerts, maintenance teams are able to identify the root cause of issues and react quickly, deploying the people, parts and equipment needed to service the aircraft – even before the flight lands.
“We are pleased that our Airplane Health Management solution continues to drive tangible value for Kenya Airways,” said Crystal Remfert, Senior Director, Boeing Digital Services. “Our ongoing collaboration to leverage its predictive maintenance capabilities will remain keenly focused on increasing fleet reliability, reducing unscheduled maintenance delays, and supporting on-time flights for Kenya Airways passengers.”
