The Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) has engaged in discussions with Egypt’s Minister of Aviation, Dr Sameh El-Hefny, and Captain Amr Al-Sharqawi, Director General of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, on a potential new air route and broader industry cooperation. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 42nd International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) General Assembly in Montreal.

Talks centred on the possibility of EgyptAir operating direct flights to Liberia, a development that would strengthen connectivity between the two countries and support trade, tourism, and diplomatic relations.
Egypt also expressed its commitment to supporting the growth of Liberia’s aviation sector through training and technical cooperation. With its established infrastructure and expertise, Egypt indicated readiness to assist in key areas such as air traffic management, aviation safety, and aircraft maintenance.
Officials from both countries confirmed their interest in advancing these initiatives, which align with their shared objectives of regional cooperation and sustainable aviation growth.
The LCAA, as Liberia’s statutory aviation regulator, oversees air transport services, aviation safety, and security. Its mandate is to foster a safe, secure, and sustainable aviation industry in line with international standards.
