The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, chaired on Thursday, 24 July 2025, in Rabat, the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the government and the National Airports Authority (ONDA), covering the period 2025–2030, for a total investment of 38 billion dirhams.
Under this strategically significant memorandum, airport capacity will be expanded in Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, and Fez. Additionally, a new HUB terminal and runway will be constructed at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca, at a cost of 25 billion dirhams. In parallel, 13 billion dirhams will be allocated for maintenance, modernisation, and land acquisition, ensuring the agility and sustainability of the airport network. ONDA is committed to embodying a new generation of public service, focused on excellence, innovation, and positive impact. The Head of Government stated that this memorandum aligns with the country’s ongoing development momentum and prepares the air transport sector to meet national aspirations and the challenges ahead.
This agreement reinforces Morocco’s trajectory as a regional platform and international aviation hub. It also contributes to equipping the Kingdom with a modern and efficient infrastructure that supports economic growth, territorial integration, and social inclusion, in line with the High Royal Directives.
The agreement will also lay the groundwork for a modern, resilient, and sustainable airport model aligned with the “Airport 2030” strategy. This strategy is designed to support the growth of Royal Air Maroc, accommodate increasing air traffic, and strengthen airport infrastructure, serving as a key driver for the development of several sectors, especially tourism, as Morocco prepares to host the FIFA World Cup and looks towards the post-2030 era.
