A recent Investec insight article notes that the global pre-owned helicopter market has entered a new growth phase in 2025, following nearly a decade of volatility after the 2015–2016 oil crisis. The helicopter services market, valued at USD 27.69 billion in 2023, is projected to grow to USD 48.06 billion by 2032, supported by rising order books, increased financing activity, and a tightening supply of pre-owned inventory, particularly in light and super-medium categories.
Demand remains strongest in mission-critical sectors such as EMS, search and rescue, firefighting, and offshore energy operations, where medium, super-medium and heavy helicopters provide essential long-range capability. Europe and North America continue to dominate the market, while the Middle East is placing significant multi-year fleet orders. Africa’s helicopter demand is driven by mining, conservation, and security requirements, with Asia investing in aerial mobility for public services.
A key trend for 2025 is the rising demand for super-medium, multi-role helicopters, which combine range, payload capacity, and cost efficiency. Financing remains a critical enabler, with new capital entering the market through banks, private debt funds, and alternative financiers. Despite geopolitical and economic uncertainties, the sector is more resilient than in previous cycles, with operators increasingly focused on modern, flexible fleets to meet diverse operational needs.
