Air Mauritius has updated its policy on the carriage and use of power banks following recent industry developments involving isolated incidents and a global recall of certain models. The new policy takes effect on 1 September 2025.
Under the updated guidelines:
- Passengers may carry one power bank with a capacity not exceeding 100 Watt Hours (Wh), with the capacity rating clearly visible on the device.
- Carriage of power banks in checked baggage is prohibited.
- Power banks must be stored safely during the flight, either in a handbag placed under the seat in front or in the seat pocket.
- Power banks should not be stored in bags placed in the overhead compartments.
- Power banks may not be used to charge personal devices during the flight.
- Charging of power banks using the aircraft’s power supply is not permitted.
Air Mauritius has stated that the policy supports its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety on board.
