Shift5, an observability platform for onboard operational technology, has partnered with Avionica, a provider of aviation data solutions, to deliver GPS integrity monitoring capabilities to the commercial aviation sector. The collaboration integrates Shift5’s advanced threat detection technology with Avionica’s existing commercial avionics hardware.

The partnership is announced against the backdrop of a marked increase in global GPS spoofing incidents, which surged by 500% in 2024. In August of that year alone, an estimated 1,500 flights per day were affected by GPS-related threats. The combined solution enables airlines to monitor GPS signals for spoofing and jamming attempts in real time and receive alerts through their current operational interfaces, without requiring new hardware or changes to existing workflows.
By leveraging Avionica’s embedded systems and industry presence, the rollout extends the reach of Shift5’s monitoring and analytics capabilities. The joint effort aims to provide the aviation industry with a timely and efficient defence against the growing complexity of navigation-related vulnerabilities.
The GPS integrity solution will be showcased at the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) Users Forum and other aviation industry events, with customer deployments anticipated in the coming months.
