The Federal Republic of Somalia and the United Republic of Tanzania have signed the Resolutions of the Experts’ Meeting in Dar es Salaam to strengthen bilateral cooperation in civil aviation. The agreement follows a technical session between the two delegations, held in the presence of H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Hon. Amb. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Tanzania’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.
The resolutions pave the way for the launch of direct flights between Mogadishu and Dar es Salaam in the coming weeks. Air Tanzania will operate the new route, aimed at improving connectivity, trade, and mobility between the two countries.
In addition, Somalia and Tanzania have agreed to renew the Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA), initially signed in 1975, reaffirming their commitment to uphold international aviation safety standards.
The documents were signed by official representatives from both sides, underscoring ongoing efforts to advance practical and forward-looking cooperation in the aviation sector.
