In the Q2 2025 statistics report issued by Statistics Botswana in October, a total of 23,903 aircraft movements were recorded. This represents an increase of 73.9 percent from 13,745 movements in the previous quarter, with 80.4 percent being domestic and 19.6 percent international.
Air passenger movements for the quarter increased by 44.7 percent, from 168,933 in the previous quarter to 244,424 movements. Non-scheduled movements accounted for 74.5 percent of total aircraft movements, of which 92.0 percent were domestic. Scheduled movements made up 17.5 percent of total aircraft movements, with 75.4 percent being international.
Furthermore, 37.8 percent of aircraft movements were non-scheduled arrivals, while 37.6 percent were non-scheduled departures. Scheduled arrivals and departures each constituted 8.8 percent of total movements recorded during the quarter.
Passenger movements reported at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (SSKIA) made up 43.7 percent of movements recorded in Q2 2025. Maun Airport accounted for 41.7 percent of passenger movements, while Kasane Airport represented 12.8 percent of the total. SSKIA recorded 59.2 percent of total scheduled movements, with 97.5 percent of its passenger movements being scheduled. Most non-scheduled movements were recorded at Maun Airport (69.6 percent), with scenic movements representing 96.7 percent of these.
