In January, the Council of Ministers adopted a decree, after a second reading, to establish the Togolese Border Authority (ATF).
The ATF will streamline existing systems, notably the maritime and land border management commissions, to enhance their overall efficiency.
This new structure aims to implement a comprehensive and coordinated approach to managing Togo’s territorial, maritime, and air jurisdictions. By consolidating responsibilities, the ATF seeks to eliminate overlaps and improve the organisation, storage, and dissemination of information related to national borders.
The creation of the Togolese Border Authority represents a significant step in optimising border management and ensuring a more effective governance framework for the nation’s borders.
