The Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mme. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, on Monday, March 23, 2026, received a high-level delegation from the Republic of Türkiye at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Monrovia regarding the establishment of a Turkish embassy in Liberia.

The Government of Türkiye will proceed with establishing its embassy in Liberia, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to look into the provision of land on the basis of diplomatic reciprocity.

The delegation indicated that the establishment of the embassy and the commencement of Turkish Airlines operations will move forward simultaneously, following prioritisation by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The discussions also reaffirmed Türkiye’s support for the revitalisation of Roberts International Airport (RIA) and support for the efficient operations of the airport.

The delegation will engage with security officials and the Executive Mansion to ensure requirements for opening the embassy are addressed across government.

In addition, Türkiye reaffirmed its interest in creating conditions for Turkish businesses to operate and invest in Liberia, and its commitment to supporting human capacity development through scholarship opportunities for Liberian students.

Discussions also included Liberia’s request to establish an embassy in Ankara and a Consulate in Istanbul, with an invitation extended to Minister Beysolow Nyanti to visit Ankara for next steps.
