Following a series of meetings, including a visit to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) by the Kenyan High Commissioner to Nigeria, as well as representatives from Kenya Airways and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), Kenya Airways paid the sanction fee on Wednesday, 17 September 2025. The penalty was issued in relation to the Gloria Omisore case and other consumer protection-related infractions.
The NCAA emphasised that its sanctions are not intended to punish operators but to enhance flight operations, particularly in terms of safety standards and passenger handling protocols.
Kenya Airways maintains a long-standing relationship with Nigeria, and improvements in its Nigerian operations are anticipated. The Authority clarified that this was a case-specific penalty and does not overshadow the airline’s positive contributions.
While commending Kenya Airways for complying with the NCAA’s determination, the Authority noted that the timeframe for resolving the cases leading to this sanction had already elapsed, and the payment of the fines does not conclude the matters.
The NCAA reaffirmed its commitment to following through on the issues and assured both passengers and operators of its dedication to protecting their rights and ensuring regulatory compliance.
