NCAA Suspends ValueJet Pilots Following Safety Breach

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has confirmed it received reports of a serious breach of aviation safety protocols involving a ValueJet flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja (Domestic Terminal) on Tuesday, 5 August 2025.

According to preliminary findings, the pilot initiated departure procedures from the designated bay without obtaining the mandatory pre-departure clearance. This action compromised the safety of ground personnel and other airport users and contravened both national civil aviation regulations and international safety standards.

In response, the NCAA took immediate enforcement action, suspending the licences of the pilot and the co-pilot.

The suspension remains in effect pending the outcome of a full investigation into the incident.
