During the 2025 summer travel season, from 1 July to 31 August, China’s civil aviation sector transported 147 million passengers, averaging 2.37 million passengers per day, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. A total of 1.199 million flights were operated, averaging 19,300 per day, up 3.6% compared to last year. The average passenger load factor reached 84.8%, up 2.2 percentage points, and the flight regularity rate was 84%, an increase of 6.7 percentage points. On 15 August, passenger traffic reached 2.5653 million, surpassing the previous record.
Domestic routes carried 131 million passengers over the same period, averaging 2.11 million daily, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%. A total of 906,000 domestic passenger flights were operated, averaging 14,600 per day, up 1.7% compared with last year.
International air transport showed strong growth, with routes now serving 80 countries. From January to August, international passenger flight volumes increased by more than 20% year-on-year. Between 1 July and 31 August, 123,000 international passenger flights were operated by Chinese and foreign airlines, averaging nearly 2,000 per day, peaking at about 2,100 daily flights in early August. Weekly flights during the peak period reached approximately 93% of 2019 levels.
These figures indicate a recovery and growth of civil aviation during the summer travel season, with continued focus on efficiency, safety, and service standards to meet rising demand.
