Proflight Zambia, which is scheduled to launch flights in March between Lusaka and Windhoek, stated that the anticipated passenger profile on the route is likely to include business travellers and tourists drawn to Victoria Falls, South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, and Namibia’s cultural and modern attractions.
The airline further expects family and diaspora travellers who are visiting relatives and maintaining cross-border ties. The mix of leisure, business, and family travel reflects the dual tourism and economic appeal of the route, according to Proflight Zambia.
Zambia is one of Windhoek’s largest African origin-destination (OD) markets, with an estimated 10,000 two-way international passengers in 2024, a 14% increase on 2023.
Proflight Zambia has completed the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and is now listed on the IOSA Registry, reinforcing its safety credentials and readiness for international operations, and is now a proud IATA member.
The Windhoek service will operate three times weekly, with a stopover in Livingstone, Zambia.
The airline said feedback from the Namibia and Botswana markets has been very strong, with encouraging early reservations. Proflight has already appointed a sales representative in Namibia.
The airline expects the Windhoek route to boost tourism, business, and family travel, offering greater convenience and comfort for both Namibia and Zambia.
Proflight said it positions itself as a regional connector, not just linking destinations but also connecting people, parks, wildlife sanctuaries, experiences, and economic opportunities.
With IOSA registration, Proflight Zambia anticipates enhanced passenger confidence and market credibility, supporting operational excellence and further partnerships.
Future expectations include strengthening its leadership in aviation safety and expanding its multi-destination itineraries across Southern Africa.
In addition to Windhoek, Proflight Zambia will introduce a seasonal service to Maun, Botswana, a gateway to the Okavango Delta, from 1 May to 31 October 2026, operating three times weekly.
The airline already operates regional services to Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa, alongside domestic routes that include Kalumbila, Kasama, Livingstone, Mansa, Mfuwe, Ndola, and Solwezi, with seasonal safari routes to Jeki and Royal airstrips in Lower Zambezi National Park.
The airline said the expansion highlights Proflight Zambia’s commitment to regional tourism and connectivity, making multi-destination itineraries more accessible.
As an IOSA-registered airline, Proflight Zambia said this underscores its commitment to safety and operational excellence.
The IOSA milestone enhances its market credibility and passenger confidence, positioning it as a trusted regional carrier.
The airline’s expansion strategy is aligned with Southern Africa’s growing tourism landscape, offering travellers a rich mix of adventure, culture, and comfort.
