The African Development Bank (AfDB), in partnership with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), launched on 15 February 2024, the Centre of Excellence for Aviation Skills (CEAS) Project. This five-year, US$ 26.6 million sovereign investment aims to build a skilled workforce to meet both national and international aviation training standards and industry demand.
Key Objectives:
- Enhancing Training Standards: Strengthening institutional capacity to deliver high-quality training accredited by international bodies such as EASA.
- Developing Domestic Talent: Expanding the pool of certified aviation experts through world-class training aligned with global best practices.
- Supporting National Vision: Aligning with Rwanda’s Vision 2050 to build core skills and competencies essential for achieving upper middle-income status by 2035 and high-income status by 2050.
- Advancing Regional Goals: Contributing to the African Union’s Agenda 2063, particularly Goal 2, which focuses on education, skills development, and innovation.
The project supports the AfDB’s Rwanda Country Strategy Paper (2022–2026), targeting improved skills and financial capabilities for private sector-led growth. It also aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
