Safran has announced the establishment of a new manufacturing facility for landing-gear equipment within the Casablanca airport zone.
This new facility is part of Safran’s strategy to support the ramp-up of Airbus A320 production by deploying a modern, highly efficient manufacturing operation located close to its key strategic markets.
Representing an investment of over 280 million euros, this 26,000 m² (~280,000 sq ft) site will be dedicated to landing systems for short- and medium-haul aircraft and will incorporate two areas of expertise: the manufacture of landing gear components and modules, as well as dedicated hydraulic equipment.
Scheduled for operation in 2029, the facility will ultimately employ nearly 500 skilled workers. A comprehensive training program, developed in partnership with local stakeholders, will support the development of the specialised skills required for the site’s long-term growth.

“The choice of location for this new facility is based on Morocco’s industrial robustness and the quality of its talent pool. Embedded within a dynamic aviation ecosystem, this new site will strengthen our resilience, agility, and competitiveness, allowing us to meet our customers’ expectations—notably Airbus—and to prepare for the future generation of aircraft.
Following recent announcements regarding the establishment of an assembly line and a maintenance centre for the LEAP engine in Casablanca, this decision once again highlights the strong relationship of trust and the strategic role the Kingdom plays in Safran’s global industrial footprint. We would like to warmly thank the Moroccan government for its support in bringing this new project to fruition,” said Olivier Andriès, CEO of Safran.
As part of the agreement signed between the Group and the Moroccan government in 2025, which guarantees access to renewable energy for Safran’s sites in Morocco, this new facility will be powered entirely by decarbonised electricity.
Safran has been present in Morocco for 26 years, employing some 5,000 people across ten sites. The Group is a leader in the country’s aviation sector and maintains strong partnerships with industry players, government institutions, and training centres.
