Afreximbank has signed an indicative term sheet with the Government of Gabon and GSEZ Airport SA for the development of the New Libreville International Airport. The financing facility, valued at up to EUR 290 million, includes EUR 100 million from Afreximbank and the remainder in XAF equivalent from BGFI Bank Gabon and AFG Bank Cameroon.

The new airport will accommodate up to 2 million passengers annually, with a 22,500m² terminal and freight capacity of 25,000 tons. It will feature an upgraded runway meeting international standards.

The signing ceremony included representatives from Afreximbank, the Ministry of Transport of Gabon, GSEZ Airport, BGFI Bank Gabon, and AFG Bank Cameroon. The project aims to enhance Gabon’s infrastructure, support trade and exports, and improve regional air connectivity within CEMAC, aligned with Afreximbank’s support for AfCFTA implementation.
