Under the leadership of Director General Dr Ayiei Garang Deng Ayiei, the Authority has reduced a range of domestic and international fees, including landing, parking, passenger service and air navigation charges. Overflight fees have been cut by 20%. The measures are intended to ease cost pressures on airlines, encourage increased use of South Sudan’s airspace and create scope for lower ticket prices.

The Authority acknowledged that high charges in the previous year had contributed to some airlines reducing operations or exiting the market. The revised fee structure is designed to reverse that trend and restore confidence among operators. Airlines have reportedly welcomed the changes and indicated their intention to reflect lower operating costs in ticket pricing.

The Director General stated that the reforms demonstrate a commitment to creating a fairer and more sustainable operating environment for the aviation industry while improving accessibility for travellers. Further measures are planned, including a review of additional charges and the digitalisation of airport processes to enhance efficiency and transparency.

The Authority positions these steps as the beginning of a broader reform agenda aimed at strengthening South Sudan’s competitiveness as a regional and international aviation hub.
