Ethiopian Airlines has launched a new scheduled passenger service to Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, effective 1 June 2025. The route, which operates four times weekly, adds a second passenger destination in the UAE to the airline’s network and strengthens connectivity between Africa and the Middle East.
The inaugural flight was marked by a formal event attended by diplomats, government officials, and senior airline representatives. This new route complements Ethiopian’s existing cargo operations to Sharjah and is expected to support trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two regions.
Sharjah, recognised as the cultural capital of the UAE, also serves as an industrial and educational hub with strategic access to global markets. Its growing appeal as a destination for adventure and eco-tourism is creating new opportunities in hospitality, retail, and other travel sectors.
Ethiopian Airlines continues to expand its global footprint with a network that spans more than 160 destinations across five continents. The carrier operates a modern fleet of aircraft, including Boeing 737s, 777s, 787s, Airbus A350s, and De Havilland Q400s. As part of its long-term strategy, “Vision 2035,” Ethiopian aims to strengthen its position as one of the world’s top aviation groups, leveraging multi-hub operations in Togo, Malawi, Zambia, and the DRC.
