Lusaka, Zambia – Thursday, 9 January 2025 – Zambia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Hon. Eng. Counsel Museba Frank Tayali, MP, has reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting Zambia Airways in its role as the national flag carrier.
Hon. Tayali convened a stakeholders’ meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, Ministry of Tourism, Zambia Airways, Zambia Civil Aviation Authority, Zambia Airports Corporation Limited, Industrial Development Corporation, and Ethiopian Airlines. The meeting focused on addressing operational aspects of Zambia Airways and responding to public concerns about the airline.
In his remarks, Hon. Tayali acknowledged the feedback received from the public regarding the national carrier and called for the airline’s management to address these concerns. He also requested Zambia Airways to consider introducing a second Boeing 737-800 aircraft to meet the growing demand resulting from increased flight frequencies.
Zambia Airways Chief Executive Officer Thomas Woldesenbet recognised the concerns raised and committed to resolving them.
In addition, Zambia Civil Aviation Authority Director General, Capt. Derrick Luembe, reported that the authority had conducted an inspection of Zambia Airways’ aircraft following public feedback. Capt. Luembe stated that the inspection identified several matters requiring attention, which were communicated to Zambia Airways for rectification.
