The recent fly-in at Parys demonstrated that these type of gatherings can offer more than a social morning out for private aircraft owners and weekend flyers. With a strong turnout from visiting aircraft and the local public, the event highlighted that a well-supported fly-in can create value for aviation businesses, service providers and the broader general aviation community.

The vendor mix on that day demonstrated this well. Evans Aviation displayed instrumentation solutions targeted at the non-type-certified aircraft market, emphasising affordability, flexibility, and practical integration. Also on display was their solution for the ADS-B environment, which is becoming more significant as aircraft owners start to consider future compliance and upgrade needs.

Aeronautical Aviation showcased Garmin avionics solutions. The company is approved by Dynon Avionics as its only certified dealer and installation company in South Africa, while promoting the Dynon range across the broader Southern African region.

LSA Covers added a practical owner-focused component to the event. Their custom-made aircraft covers, pitot covers, vent plugs and related products are well aligned with the needs of operators focused on aircraft care, presentation and protection.

Vektor Aviation Insurance, was also present, serving as a reminder that aviation business considerations extend beyond aircraft hardware and equipment. Insurance remains a constant requirement across the industry.

Beyond the commercial aspect, the fly-in also drew strong support from the surrounding community. Local families attended in large numbers, and children were seen exploring the airfield and spending time around the vendor stands.

Parys itself remains well suited to this kind of event. Its accessibility from Gauteng, together with the appeal of the town and surrounding attractions, makes it a practical destination for a day out.
