Tanzania’s PAC Commends Progress on Msalato International Airport, Calls for Timely Completion

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) has expressed satisfaction with the construction progress of Msalato International Airport in Dodoma, commending the Tanzania Roads Agency (TANROADS) for its effective management of the project.

Following an inspection visit on 23 January 2025, PAC Vice Chairman, Hon. Japhet Hasunga, praised the Sixth Phase Government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan for the major investment in the project. He urged TANROADS to ensure timely completion while maintaining high construction standards.

Hasunga highlighted the strategic importance of the 11,000-hectare airport site and suggested allocating land for hotels, conference facilities, and shopping malls to boost tourism and economic growth in Dodoma.

Hon. Jackline Ngonyani, Member of Parliament for Ruvuma Region, also praised the government and TANROADS for their commitment to quality project management.

Providing an update, TANROADS Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Mohamed Besta, confirmed that the project is 84% complete and assured full contractor supervision to ensure timely delivery.

The Msalato International Airport project is expected to enhance air connectivity, promote tourism, and stimulate economic development in Tanzania’s capital region.
