The signing ceremony, held at the State House and witnessed by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda, senior government officials, US Embassy officials, members of the Board of Directors of Uganda Airlines, and representatives of Boeing, underscores the Government of Uganda’s commitment to strengthening the country’s aviation sector and enhancing global connectivity.

The proposed acquisition will significantly increase Uganda Airlines’ capacity to serve regional, continental, and international markets while supporting Uganda’s economic transformation agenda. The additional aircraft will facilitate trade, tourism, investment, and cargo development, directly contributing to Uganda Vision 2040 and the country’s aspiration to achieve sustainable middle-income status. Fleet expansion is also expected to support growth in the priority sectors of Agriculture, Tourism, Minerals, and Services (ATMS) by improving access to global markets and increasing connectivity for business and leisure travel.

This is a strategic investment in Uganda’s future and a major step towards establishing Uganda as a leading aviation hub in the region. The airline has expressed appreciation to His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda, the Government of Uganda, the Board of Directors, Boeing, the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, and the airline’s management and negotiation teams for their invaluable support and commitment in advancing this transformative initiative.

This milestone commemorates the beginning of a long-term partnership between Uganda Airlines and Boeing. During the ceremony, Boeing Vice President of Sales, Anbessie Yitbarek, committed to supporting Uganda Airlines’ growth ambitions through technical expertise, training, and capacity-building initiatives that are critical for sustainable success.
