Air Algérie has begun regular operations to Dr António Agostinho Neto International Airport, opening a scheduled service between Algiers and Icolo e Bengo.

The Algerian flag carrier’s inaugural flight arrived in Angola in the early hours of 27 June 2026, operated by an Airbus A330-200 carrying 85 passengers. Of those on board, 30 had Angola as their final destination, while 55 were travelling in transit through Air Algérie’s wider network.

The launch followed preparatory work between Air Algérie and ATO & OC S.A., the temporary operator of Dr António Agostinho Neto International Airport. On 20 May 2026, delegations from both organisations met to review the technical, operational and administrative procedures required for the start of the airline’s activities at the airport.

At the time of those discussions, flights were expected to begin in late June using Airbus A330 aircraft. The service now links Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers with Dr António Agostinho Neto International Airport, supporting the movement of passengers, goods and business traffic between Angola and Algeria.

The route follows the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, announced by Angola’s President, João Lourenço, during his recent official visit to Algeria.

Angola’s ambassador to Algeria, Toco Serão, travelled on the inaugural flight and described the new air service as a historic milestone in bilateral relations. According to the diplomat, the operation represents more than a passenger link, providing a means of strengthening African integration, bringing people closer together and facilitating business opportunities.

For Dr António Agostinho Neto International Airport, Air Algérie’s entry adds another international operator to the airport’s growing network. ATO & OC S.A. said the service supports the consolidation of the airport as a strategic platform for regional and international air transport, including passenger and cargo movement into and out of the African continent.
