Air Algérie has commenced scheduled passenger flights between Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) and Algiers, restoring a direct connection between the German capital region and Algeria for the first time since 2014.
The airline operates the route once weekly on Mondays, with the service scheduled to move to Sundays when the winter timetable takes effect at the end of October 2026. Boeing 737 aircraft, with capacity for up to 186 passengers, are deployed on the route.
According to Berlin Brandenburg Airport, the new service provides additional travel options for passengers with family, cultural and business ties to Algeria.
Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, said the direct service would improve access to Algeria from the German capital region and strengthen the airport's connections with North Africa.
Air Algérie Director General and CEO Hamza Benhamouda said the introduction of direct flights between Algiers and Berlin represented a further step in strengthening relations between Algeria and Germany. He indicated that the service would meet the travel requirements of Algerian citizens living in Germany while providing direct access to Algiers and the airline's wider route network. The connection would also facilitate economic and tourism links between the two countries.
Under the current summer timetable, flights depart Berlin Brandenburg Airport at 19:00 on Mondays, arriving in Algiers at 21:05 local time. The return service departs Algiers at 14:00 and arrives in Berlin at 18:00.
From 1 November 2026, the service will operate on Sundays, departing Berlin at 13:55 and arriving in Algiers at 16:35. The return flight will depart Algiers at 10:15 and arrive in Berlin at 12:55.
The Berlin service forms part of Air Algérie's international network expansion, supported by its fleet modernisation and expansion programme.
The Algerian state-owned airline operates from its hub at Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers, serving more than 80 domestic and international destinations with a fleet comprising Airbus, Boeing and ATR aircraft.
