Air Cairo has signed a series of aircraft leasing, engine, maintenance and strategic partnership agreements during the second day of the Egypt International Airshow and Space 2026 in Alamein, as the airline continues to develop its fleet, strengthen its operational and technical capabilities, and expand its business activities.
The agreements follow a series of agreements concluded on the opening day of the exhibition and form part of the airline's plans to expand its domestic, regional and international operations.
Under agreements signed by Hussein Sherif, Chairman and CEO of Air Cairo, the airline will lease three Airbus A320ceo aircraft from AviLease for a period of eight years. A further agreement with Castlelake covers the provision of three additional A320ceo aircraft, while a separate agreement with FTAI Aviation provides for the lease of two A320ceo aircraft for five years.
The additional aircraft are intended to provide greater operational flexibility and support the airline's network expansion plans.
Air Cairo has also selected CFM LEAP-1A engines to power its new Airbus A320neo aircraft under an agreement covering engines for 15 aircraft, with options for an additional 15 aircraft and provision for spare engines. According to the airline, the agreement could bring the total number of LEAP-1A engines associated with its fleet to more than 60.
To strengthen its engineering and maintenance capabilities, Air Cairo has entered into a strategic agreement with MTU Maintenance for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and technical support services for its LEAP-1A engines. The agreement is intended to support the operational readiness and reliability of the airline's A320neo fleet.
The airline has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Aviation Group to establish a long-term strategic partnership covering aircraft leasing and fleet solutions, MRO services, training and capacity building. The proposed cooperation also extends to the development of operational, technical and commercial capabilities and the exploration of additional opportunities across the aviation sector.
In a move to diversify its business activities, Air Cairo has entered into an agreement with Skydive Pharos to cooperate in recreational and aerial advertising activities. The agreement also provides for the exploration of cargo and spare-parts transportation services, with particular emphasis on the use of aircraft capabilities in tourist and coastal destinations.
Further agreements and contracts were concluded with EgyptAir In-Flight Services, headed by Soheir Moussa, and the Egyptian Aviation Services Company, headed by Captain Wael El-Nashar, alongside cooperation with the Egyptian Airports Company.
The cooperation includes plans to study and establish a specialised company providing catering and in-flight services, with the objective of making greater use of existing capabilities and expertise within Egypt's aviation sector.
Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation, Captain Samah El-Hefny, and Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company, attended some of the signing ceremonies alongside aviation industry representatives and officials from the participating organisations.
According to Air Cairo, the agreements form part of its strategy to develop its fleet, strengthen maintenance and technical support, expand training and operational capabilities, and diversify its services and revenue sources.
