Hurghada International Airport recorded the highest daily level of operations in its history on Saturday 31 October 2026, with 389 take-offs and landings. That is 31 more than the previous record of 358 movements, set on 1 November 2025, and an increase of 8.7%. The record is an indicator of growing demand for Egyptian tourist destinations.
Nearly 67,000 passengers travelled through the airport on the day, against 56,641 on the day of the previous record. That is an increase of 10,359 passengers, or 18.3%, more than double the growth in take-offs and landings. The rise was marked among arriving passengers, who numbered about 33,500, up 24.1%, while departing passengers also numbered about 33,500, up 13% on the same day of comparison.

Dr Sameh El-Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, said the record operating rates at Hurghada International Airport reflect growing demand for the destination and increasing interest in Egypt’s tourist cities from various international markets, particularly at the start of the winter season. He said the figures confirm the vital role of the civil aviation sector in supporting growth in inbound tourism and in strengthening the ability of Egyptian airports to absorb the rise in international traffic.
El-Hefny said the Ministry counts the development of airport infrastructure, the strengthening of airport capacity and the raising of operating efficiency among its priorities, so that it can keep pace with growing air traffic and provide efficient, high-quality services while observing the highest safety and security standards. This, he said, supports the competitiveness of Egyptian airports and reinforces Egypt’s standing as a regional and international hub for air transport and tourism.
Captain Wael El-Nashar, Chairman of the Egyptian Airports Company, said the record reflects the efficiency of operating performance at Hurghada International Airport and the readiness of its departments to handle high operating densities. Continuous coordination between the bodies working at the airport and heightened readiness among work teams, he said, help to keep flights regular and speed up departure and arrival procedures while maintaining the highest levels of safety, security and service quality.
El-Nashar added that the company follows performance indicators and operating rates at its airports and is strengthening technical and staffing preparations, particularly at tourist airports, so that it can handle the expected increase in flights and passengers in the coming period.
The record came with the start of the winter tourist season, which brings more international flights to Egyptian tourist destinations, particularly the Red Sea cities, strengthening the role of Hurghada International Airport in receiving the expected increase in tourist traffic and supporting the state’s efforts to develop the tourism sector.
