Air Ghana has strengthened its air cargo offering in West Africa with the introduction of an additional dedicated freighter, expanding capacity and enhancing responsiveness for charter operations across the region.
The newly inducted aircraft, registered 9G-KCT, is a Boeing 737-400 Special Freighter (SF) and has entered active service, available for immediate charter from Accra. The aircraft represents the third dedicated freighter in the airline’s fleet and reinforces its role in supporting regional logistics, trade flows and time-sensitive cargo movements.
Configured specifically for cargo operations, the 737-400SF is a well-established narrowbody freighter platform recognised for its operational reliability, efficiency and flexibility. Its entry into service provides Air Ghana with increased capacity to handle a range of cargo requirements, including high-value shipments, perishables and urgent consignments.
Operating from Kotoka International Airport’s cargo hub, the aircraft is positioned to support regional connectivity across West Africa, enabling faster response times and improved access to key trade routes. The additional capacity also strengthens Air Ghana’s ability to support export-driven sectors and respond to complex logistics requirements, including humanitarian and relief operations where rapid deployment is critical.
The expansion of the dedicated freighter fleet enables greater operational control, with improved schedule reliability and the ability to offer tailored charter solutions. This is particularly relevant in a market where demand for flexible and responsive cargo capacity continues to grow, driven by evolving supply chain dynamics and increasing intra-African trade.
Air Ghana has also highlighted its capability in handling perishable cargo, a key segment within the West African export market. Specialised handling processes and operational expertise are positioned to support industries such as agriculture and fisheries, where time sensitivity and cargo integrity are essential.
