Burkina Faso Aviation Training Institute Advances Towards ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Membership

Burkina Faso’s Institute of Aviation Training has completed an International Civil Aviation Organization audit as part of its application to join the TRAINAIR PLUS Programme.

The institute, which operates under Burkina Faso’s National Civil Aviation Agency, was audited in Ouagadougou from 13 to 17 July 2026.

ICAO auditor José Patrocinio Riveros Gutierrez assessed the institute’s teaching, organisational and management practices against the standards required for admission to the international aviation training network.

The five-day assessment examined whether the institute’s training systems, quality-management processes and supporting documentation met ICAO requirements. The institute recorded a compliance rate of more than 90% during its first assessment.

The result moves the institute closer to certification and membership of the TRAINAIR PLUS network, although the accession process has not yet been completed.

TRAINAIR PLUS supports the standardisation of civil aviation training through harmonised course-development methods, quality requirements and cooperation between recognised training organisations.

Membership would provide international recognition of the institute’s training systems and create opportunities for cooperation with other aviation training institutions. It would also strengthen Burkina Faso’s capacity to train aviation personnel in accordance with internationally recognised standards.
