General Atomics AeroTec Systems (GA-ATS) will make its African debut with the new Do228 NXT turboprop aircraft in September 2026, exhibiting at El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt and the Africa Aerospace & Defence (AAD) Expo in South Africa within the same month.

The German aircraft manufacturer's Do228 NXT Demonstrator will be on static display at El Alamein International Airshow (8-10 September 2026) at El Alamein International Airport, its first appearance outside Europe after previously being shown at ILA Berlin 2026 and the Farnborough International Airshow. A week later, GA-ATS will exhibit at AAD 2026 in South Africa (16-20 September 2026), with a booth in Hangar 1.

GA-ATS said the two appearances underscore the importance of Africa and the Middle East as a large and growing market for the Do228 NXT. The Do228 has a long operational history on the continent, with more than 30 operators across nearly 20 countries using the aircraft for roles including connecting remote areas, unpaved-airfield operations and short take-off and landing (STOL) missions.

The Do228 NXT is designed to perform passenger and cargo transport, border surveillance, search and rescue, medical evacuation and reconnaissance missions, giving operators the ability to carry out multiple roles with a single aircraft type. GA-ATS said the two African trade show appearances mark the start of a broader strategic focus on the continent.
