Ethiopian Airlines has launched a new thrice-weekly passenger service to Nacala, its third destination in Mozambique after Maputo and Beira. The inaugural flight departed from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) following a ceremony attended by senior government officials, stakeholders and Ethiopian Airlines executives.
The new route offers travellers access to Nacala, a coastal destination and gateway to northern Mozambique’s tourism attractions and economic opportunities.
Commenting on the launch of the new route, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said, “As an airline deeply rooted in Africa, Ethiopian Airlines remains committed to connecting every corner of the continent with the rest of the world. Today, we are delighted to welcome Nacala, one of Mozambique’s key tourism destinations, to our extensive global network. This new service further strengthens our footprint in Mozambique, making Nacala the third destination in the country served by Ethiopian Airlines. As we mark this important milestone in enhancing socio-economic ties between Ethiopia and Mozambique, we extend our sincere gratitude and congratulations to all those who contributed to making this achievement possible.”
Serving more than 65 destinations across Africa, Ethiopian Airlines provides connectivity across the continent through its hub in Addis Ababa. The airline continues to play a role in advancing trade, tourism and people-to-people connections while contributing to the growth and development of Africa’s aviation industry.
Beyond facilitating international travel for passengers travelling to and from northern Mozambique, the launch of this new route is expected to foster stronger economic, commercial and diplomatic ties between Mozambique and the rest of the world. By enhancing connectivity to the region, Ethiopian Airlines will provide greater access for international investors, business travellers, tourists and development partners, creating new opportunities for trade, investment, tourism and cross-border collaboration.
The service further reflects Ethiopian Airlines’ commitment to expanding its African network, strengthening regional integration and supporting the continent’s economic growth through improved air connectivity.
