CONTINENTAL AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGIES™

Garmin today announced it has received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for multiple retrofit solutions, ranging from helicopters to general and business aviation aircraft.

GI 275 for Helicopters

Now available for European-registered Part 27 helicopters, the GI 275 electronic flight display is a scalable, cost-conscious approach to an avionics upgrade that is a direct replacement for a variety of legacy primary flight instruments in the cockpit, including the primary attitude indicator, course deviation indicator (CDI), horizontal situation indicator (HSI), or the multi-function display (MFD). The GI 275 is intentionally designed to take advantage of the common 3.125-inch flight instrument size, reducing installation time and preserving the existing instrument panel. Its bright, high-resolution touchscreen display and wide viewing angle offer superior readability in the cockpit. In addition to interfacing with the flight instrument via the touchscreen, a dual concentric knob allows pilots to access a variety of key functions. Suitable as a direct replacement to many ageing flight instruments, the GI 275 offers operators a simple and straightforward upgrade path to achieve modern flight instrument features and functions.

G5000 for Cessna Citation XLS+

Building on the successful G5000® upgrade program for Cessna Citation Excel and XLS aircraft in Europe, Garmin has received EASA approval of the G5000 integrated flight deck for Cessna Citation XLS+ and XLS Gen2 aircraft. The G5000 integrated avionics suite modernises the cockpit with additional capabilities, significantly reduces operational costs, increases situational awareness of the flight crew and solves long-term concerns related to legacy avionics parts obsolescence. The flight deck features three landscape-oriented flight displays with split-screen capability, allowing pilots to simultaneously view maps, charts, checklists, TAWS, TCAS, flight plan information, weather and more. Two intuitive touchscreen controllers serve as the pilot interface to the flight deck and contribute to the ease of operation and seamless transition between various pages. New with G5000 for the XLS+ and XLS Gen2, two GI 275 electronic flight instruments can be used as standby ADIs. The upgrade is also available with industry-leading terminal safety solutions, StormOptix™ weather radar, and connectivity options.

Cirrus Perspective+ Upgrade

The recently EASA certified Cirrus Perspective+ upgrade provides an easy way to add new, state-of-the-art features and enhancements to Cirrus SR Series G3 or G5 aircraft. Available for Cirrus SR22T, SR22, and SR20 aircraft equipped with the original Cirrus Perspective® system, the Perspective+ upgrade delivers even greater performance and capability to help enhance peace of mind and add more convenience to Cirrus pilots in Europe. Plus, select G6 aircraft can incorporate an optional software upgrade and new connectivity options.

DME

Garmin recently announced its new distance measuring equipment (DME) solution – GDM450R. Now EASA certified, this digital, state-of-the-art, remote-mount DME radio is designed to provide slant-distance information on select Garmin flight decks and displays. GDM 450R can allow pilots to track two separate DME’s simultaneously and is designed for Part 23 general aviation aircraft. The DME solution offers a cost-effective way to add or upgrade DME capabilities on many popular aircraft.

Additionally, Garmin expects imminent EASA approval of the GDL® 60 datalink that enables PlaneSync™ technology. EASA certification is expected in the coming weeks, with all major certification activities completed.
