Following an in-flight evaluation of nearly 7,000 hours with Air France, NYCO’s turbine oil is now qualified for use in the GEnx-1B engines, which power Boeing 787 aircraft.
GE Aerospace has qualified NYCO’s TURBONYCOIL® 600 turbine oil for use in its GEnx-1B engines, which power Boeing 787 aircraft.
The qualification follows several years of collaboration with Air France, which conducted an in-flight evaluation campaign of TURBONYCOIL® 600 across multiple engines over a period of more than 36 months.
Oil analyses performed throughout the evaluation campaign demonstrated the thermal stability of TURBONYCOIL® 600 and the performance of its antioxidant and anti-wear additive package.

Following nearly 7,000 flight hours, engine teardowns and inspections confirmed effective wear protection of lubricated components and low levels of coke deposition. These results led GE Aerospace to qualify TURBONYCOIL® 600 for use in the GEnx-1B engine.
Paul Gallais, Business Development & Marketing Director, NYCO, said, “The qualification of TURBONYCOIL® 600 for the GEnx-1B engines is an important step in NYCO’s expansion in the civil aviation sector. Building on 40 years of in-service experience and thanks to a continuous partnership with Air France, TURBONYCOIL® 600 once again demonstrates its high standards of quality and performance.”
Olivier Boina, VP Engine Fleets Engineering, Air France Engine Department, said, “The qualification of TURBONYCOIL® 600 for the GEnx is a great achievement. The oil has demonstrated excellent quality and performance throughout our in-flight evaluation, and we greatly value the close, constructive collaboration we have built with NYCO. After the GE90 and the CF6, we are pleased to see it qualified for another engine in our fleet.”
