South Africa Third Party Simulator User Certificate Renewal Process Updated

SACAA updates the renewal process for third party simulator user certificates, aligning it with annual ATO renewal and Part 187 fee requirements.

This General Notice advises industry of an amended process for the annual renewal of a simulator third-party user certificate. Previously, Aviation Training Organisations were required to submit form CA 60-03 to the FSTD department for renewal; however, the process will now be managed by the Principal Inspector allocated to the ATO and aligned with the annual ATO renewal.

A third-party flight simulator user certificate may therefore be renewed as part of the annual ATO renewal process and will remain valid provided that the simulator’s qualification certificate remains in force and the applicable annual fees in terms of Part 187 are paid to the SACAA. In accordance with SACAR 60.01.8(5), an FSD user certificate is effective from the date of issue and remains valid until the applicable FSTD qualification ceases to be in force under Regulation 60.01.6.
