Uganda Airlines Becomes First African Carrier to Deploy Amadeus SkyWORKS

Uganda Airlines has become the first African carrier to deploy Amadeus SkyWORKS, adding an integrated flight schedule development platform to support planning, feasibility checking and network expansion.

Uganda Airlines has become the first African carrier to deploy Amadeus SkyWORKS after signing a new agreement with travel technology provider Amadeus for the flight schedule development solution.

SkyWORKS provides the airline with an integrated workbench for schedule planning, including editing capabilities, real-time feasibility checking and tools for schedule reporting and distribution.

Uganda Airlines Acting Chief Commercial Officer Shakila Rahim Lamar said the rollout would give the carrier’s teams multiple schedule views to evaluate different business scenarios and provide a central repository for schedule-related information.

She said the airline expected the system to support its expansion in East Africa and other markets by improving the way its teams develop and evaluate schedules.

The implementation extends Uganda Airlines’ existing technology relationship with Amadeus. The two companies already work together across Amadeus Altéa, revenue management and loyalty management.

Yassine Mellak, Amadeus Vice-President Sales and Account Management, Middle East, Turkey and Africa, said the addition of SkyWORKS would give Uganda Airlines greater flexibility and control over schedule management.

The carrier, which launched operations in 2019, is continuing to expand its reach through airline partnerships. Amadeus cited Uganda Airlines’ recent interline partnership with Air India as part of this development.
