Air Cairo has signed a firm order for 15 Airbus A320neo aircraft at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026.

The agreement introduces direct aircraft ownership alongside the airline’s leased Airbus fleet as part of its long-term growth strategy.

Air Cairo has grown from seven aircraft five years ago to a fleet of more than 45 aircraft and plans to expand to more than 130 aircraft by 2034. The airline said the firm order would provide additional capacity, operational flexibility and efficiency as it expands its domestic, regional and international networks.

Air Cairo Chairman and CEO Hussein Sherif said combining owned aircraft with the airline’s leased fleet would provide greater operational flexibility and financial efficiency as the carrier expands.

He said the A320neo would provide additional capacity to grow Air Cairo’s network, meet increasing demand for travel to and from Egypt and support the country’s aviation and tourism sectors.

Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business Benoît de Saint-Exupéry said the order represented Air Cairo’s first direct acquisition from Airbus and reflected the airline’s confidence in the A320neo for its next phase of growth.

He said the aircraft would provide the efficiency and flexibility required for Air Cairo to expand its network and strengthen connectivity between Egypt and international destinations.

The Airbus A320 Family has secured more than 20,200 orders globally. Airbus says the family delivers at least 20% fuel savings and lower CO₂ emissions compared with previous-generation single-aisle aircraft.
