According to a news item from Angola’s Ministry of Transport, the concession for the operation, management and maintenance of Dr António Agostinho Neto International Airport has been awarded to a consortium led by Corporación América Airports, in partnership with Mota-Engil Engenharia e Construção África, S.A., following a tender process conducted by Angola’s Ministry of Transport. The concession has an initial duration of 25 years, with the option of a further 15-year extension.
The award followed an evaluation of the criteria set out in the tender programme, technical specifications and investor memorandum. The consortium achieved the highest overall score, with 93.25 points out of 100, based on its technical proposal, financial capacity and experience in the integrated management of airport infrastructure.
Corporación América Airports, headquartered in Luxembourg, operates a portfolio of 52 airports in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Ecuador, Armenia and Italy. The company has experience in the operation, modernisation and expansion of airport infrastructure and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, reporting in accordance with international financial reporting standards.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the concession is intended to support the development of Dr António Agostinho Neto International Airport as a key component of Angola’s air transport infrastructure. The airport is expected to play a role in strengthening passenger and cargo connectivity and in supporting broader economic activity linked to air transport, trade and tourism.
