Cameroon and UAE Advance Transport Cooperation Talks

Cameroon and the United Arab Emirates have discussed the implementation of their 2020 Air Transport Agreement, including the establishment of direct air links, while also reviewing possible UAE investment in the proposed Ngaoundéré-N’Djamena railway project.

Cameroon and UAE Discuss Air Transport Agreement and Rail Investment

Cameroon’s Minister of Transport, Jean Ernest Masséna Ngall M Bibeh Al, met the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Cameroon, Saleem Saeed Musabbed Almayoubi Alshamsi, on 9 June 2026 to discuss transport cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting focused on the implementation of the Air Transport Agreement signed by Cameroon and the UAE in 2020. The agreement is intended to support the establishment of direct air links between the two countries, with expected benefits for passenger traffic, air freight, trade and investment.

The UAE Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s interest in advancing the agreement and sought an update on its implementation. The Minister of Transport said the Cameroonian Government remains committed to the agreement and that the necessary steps are being taken to enable its implementation.

The discussions also covered possible UAE investment in other transport infrastructure projects, including the proposed Ngaoundéré-N’Djamena railway construction project, in which the UAE has previously expressed interest.

The UAE indicated its intention to strengthen its position as a strategic partner for Cameroon in major transport infrastructure projects, with Cameroon viewed as a potential investment hub for Central Africa.
