TAAG Angola Airlines has confirmed that its inaugural service between Luanda and Guangzhou, in the People’s Republic of China, is scheduled to begin on 23 June 2026.

TAAG set out the details of the new service at a launch event in Luanda on 2 June, where the airline confirmed both the start of ticket sales and the planned launch date for commercial operations. The event was attended by Angolan and Chinese representatives, diplomatic officials, corporate clients and aviation sector stakeholders.

The service will connect Dr António Agostinho Neto International Airport, located on the outskirts of Luanda, with Guangzhou, one of Asia’s major economic, industrial and logistics centres. TAAG will operate the route using its Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which was recently added to the airline’s fleet. The route will initially operate once a week, with departures from Angola every Tuesday.

The Guangzhou service forms part of TAAG’s international expansion strategy and strengthens the airline’s role in connecting Africa and Asia. The route is expected to support the movement of passengers, business traffic and goods between Angola and China.

China remains an important bilateral partner for Angola, supported by a significant resident community, corporate cooperation and established economic activity across several strategic sectors. Against this background, the new air link is positioned as a means of strengthening institutional, commercial, tourism and cultural ties between the two countries.

From a network perspective, the Guangzhou route supports TAAG’s objective of building a more competitive intercontinental operation while leveraging the potential of Dr António Agostinho Neto International Airport as a regional and international connectivity platform.
